About the role
A St Christopher’s trustee is engaged with the vision of the hospice; an organisation committed to the care and support of dying people when and wherever they need it. Our Trustee Team works closely with our Executive Team and senior staff across the hospice to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care; maintain our international reputation for education and research; and remain appropriately resourced to serve our community in the future. Our Trustee Team provides strategic leadership and expertise from a range of backgrounds and industries that gives St Christopher’s the direction and insight to continue as a world leader in palliative care.
We are looking to recruit new members to join our Board of Trustees to fill vacancies created by retiring Board members.
We are looking for individuals with experience as either a Charity Trustee, Non-Executive Director or similar. You will have the ability to be an effective ambassador and influencer for the hospice and be committed to the aims and objectives of the hospice, maintaining a genuine interest in our work. You will be a strategic and creative thinker and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
We are largely looking for individuals with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience at board level and chairing committees
- Experience of working at a senior level in a HR workforce and change management
- Safeguarding & whistleblowing expertise
- Financial & commercial expertise
We particularly welcome applicants from our under represented areas which includes applicants from BAME groups, in addition to diverse age groups.

The role of a Trustee of St Christopher’s is voluntary and Trustees will not receive remuneration for their services on the Board. Out of pocket expenses incurred by the Trustees in the course of carrying out the role will be reimbursed in accordance with the organisation’s expenses policy.
