Accounting for International Development (AfID) offers volunteer assignments for accountants and auditors across the UK, Africa, Asia & South America including Trustee/Treasurer roles and financial capacity building placements from 2 to 12 weeks.
Our partner is implementing a project in Malawi whereby schools have an orchard, growing trees and breakfast foods, paprika and other crops for sale, using the income to improve education.
They are looking for pro bono support to undertake the following tasks:
- Submit annual corporate tax return to HMRC (quarter-day);
- Check next financial report in October of £94k, 3-year project due with donor (Scottish Government) (half-day);
- Register to operate the organisation's bank account, and make 10 or so bank transfers up to March 2020 (half-day in total);
- Strategise with the board on readiness to receive more grants which may be available from October (half-day)
It is anticipated that the work would take around 3 full days in total, which can be broken down into half days over a much longer period. All work can be done remotely, but it is hoped that the volunteer would be based in Scotland where the majority of Trustees are located.
