NHS Charities Together is the national charity partner of the NHS and the umbrella membership organisation for NHS charities throughout the UK. We represent, champion and support the work of more than 240 NHS Charities which in turn support the Hospitals, Community and Mental Health services and Ambulance services throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Our key stakeholders and partners range from national government organisations and departments such as the NHS and the Department of Health and Social Care, as well as local and regional NHS Trusts and Health Boards, our 240 NHS charity members, corporate partners and brands, media organisations and public supporters.
We are an ambitious organisation looking to develop and evolve. We have enjoyed unprecedented and substantial growth since March 2020 and we are now seeking both Member and Independent Trustees who share our ambition to join the Board and help shape our future.
We are looking for experienced professionals with a genuine and demonstrable interest in the NHS who will lead us on our journey as we build on our past successes to shape our future.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people with strategic expertise in a range of areas including: finance, risk, charity governance, NHS strategy and leadership (with policy influencing skills at a national level), and national membership organisations.
We believe that the best boards are those that reflect the communities they serve and we are therefore particularly keen to hear from people from under-represented groups.
A proportion of our Trustee positions are reserved for Trustees or Board Members from our Member Charities and we are particularly keen to hear from NHS Non-Executive Directors with an interest in NHS Charities. However, two of our vacancies are for Independent Trustees and we would welcome applications from anybody with the skills and experience we are looking for.
The term of office is three years and initially the likely time commitment is around one day a month based on four to five board meetings per year, participation in a committee, informal meetings and external representation. Meetings are held in London or Warwick (although currently virtual).
