Trustees | Bread and Water for Africa UK
|Job Title:||Trustees | Bread and Water for Africa UK|

About the role
Since 2004, Bread and Water for Africa UK has been fighting poverty, relieving hunger, and increasing access to healthcare and education in some of the world’s poorest countries. By working with local grass-roots organisations we have helped to fund schools, lifesaving health clinics and loving homes for abandoned and orphaned children. Today, we have helped 18 community-based organisations in 11 countries become more sustainable.
We focus on long-term projects rather than temporary relief efforts, so we can give African communities a hand up, not a handout. In this way, these sustainable projects can continue to help future generations.
Our programme partners are our heroes. They are the ones doing all the hard work, sometimes in the most difficult circumstances.
We want to continue to raise funds and awareness for programmes promoting self-sufficiency, health and education in Africa and increase our supporters. We are keen to diversify our fundraising streams, such as increased applications and relationship-building with foundations and trusts, community fundraising and legacy campaigns.
Who are we looking for?
We are now looking to appoint new Trustees who will work with our CEO and Board to take Bread and Water for Africa UK forward and ensure we are an effective and impactful organisation.
We are looking for people with wide ranging experiences across different sectors who can bring a different way of thinking. We are seeking a number of people with diverse skills and experiences including but not limited to digital marketing and fundraising, people with experience in grants, and those with a background in impact evaluation. We are particularly interested in people who are based in Africa or are from the African diaspora.
We expect the time commitment to build up to a day a month. This will include quarterly meetings, occasional considered input into working groups and attendance at events.
