SWEATY BETTY FOUNDATION WE’VE JUST GOT STARTED AND WE NEED YOUR HELP
Sweaty Betty, the activewear brand for women, has recently launched a new charity, the Sweaty Betty Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to empower women and girls from every background to get active, and stay active, for life. We are looking for new trustees for our board to support and lead our strategy.
With the backing of the amazing Sweaty Betty brand and organisation, we want to help teenage girls to ‘respect their sweat’ and get active in a way that works for them at school, in their community and online. Our particular focus is girls aged 10-18 from families living on low incomes and from ethnically diverse communities with a specific focus, in the UK on Black and South Asian communities, and in the US on Black and Hispanic communities, as research shows these girls have less opportunities to get active.
What we are looking for
We want diversity on our board of trustees to help shape our plans. Given the focus of the work of the Foundation, we would welcome applications from the following people, who are currently underrepresented on our Board:
- In their late teens (18 and above) or 20s
- Either has now, or grew up with, a low household income
- From an ethnically diverse background and, if from the UK, with a particular focus on those from a Black or South Asian heritage community
- If based in the UK, live outside London in one of the following urban areas: Leeds/Bradford, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham
We are also seeking trustees who have skills in delivering community programmes, digital, behaviour change, finance and working with corporate foundations. And most importantly, who are passionate about helping us achieve our mission!
Trustees are responsible for ensuring the charity achieves its mission, tracks its progress, complies with charity law and protects its finances. Trustee roles are unpaid, but all expenses are covered, and we will support you in every way to be an effective trustee.
