Newground Together, a Charity based in the North of England, is seeking two new Trustees to join their Board.
Newground Together has five charitable objects which govern its activity throughout the North of England, these are briefly;
- The conservation, protection and improvement of the physical environment for public benefit
- Urban and rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation
- The provision of recreation and leisure facilities in the interests of social welfare
- To advance the life chances of young people
- Education and training
We are part of the Together Housing Group, a northern based social landlord with c.38,000 properties in East Lancashire, Yorkshire and the Humber. The Charity also advises on social value opportunities in the wider Group’s activity where our charitable objects can be furthered.
We are seeking a strong balance of skills, experience and knowledge, and would be particularly interested in hearing from applicants with expertise in community development, health & wellbeing and employment training.
In addition we recognise the importance of diversity at Trustee level and would therefore especially welcome applications from women and people from minority ethnic backgrounds as they are currently under represented on our Boards.
The Board of Trustees meets quarterly and collectively oversees the Charity’s annual business plan and provides support and challenge to the executive staff for efficient and compliant delivery against the Charity’s objects.
Please note that these Charity roles are not salaried although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
What difference will you make?
Board Trustees set the strategic direction of the Trust, whilst supporting and holding to account the executive staff to ensure that the Charity's objects are met. Delivery against these objects makes a real and measurable distance to the lives of people in communities throughout the north of England, many in neighbourhoods facing significant deprivation.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
We are looking to recruit two new Trustees which will bring our Board to a total of eight providing the opportunity to work with a small and supportive board, working closely with a team of committed staff keen to make a real difference in our target areas.
