Trustee withHR Experience

Ashford Place provides support services to single homeless people as well as vulnerable people in our local community. Moving away from a single issue agency, the charity is keen to work with its local community and statutory partners to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Brent.

We provide our services from our wholly owned Community Resource Centre. We are spearheading a significant change in the way support services are designed and delivered with an emphasis on personal responsibility, community cohesion and long term positive impact on individuals/communities. We have achieved Investors in People, Matrix and Customer 1st quality standard awards.

 

What will you be doing?

As a Trustee with HR experience we are looking for someone to 

  • Ensure highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employee relations, recruitment, retention, reward and recognition as well as staff and trustee development.
  • Develop an employee and Volunteer wellbeing strategy
  • Assessing risks and measuring the impact of HR interventions in the light of changing legal requirements and best practice.
  • Implementing company policies and practices in the context of furthering charitable objectives and evaluating how they impact beneficiaries and staff.
  • Ensuring long-term strategic oversight of the organisation’s personnel and staffing requirements in relation to the overarching goals of the charity

 

What are we looking for?

We need someone  with

  • the kind of HR background that helps us create a healthy and productive staff team.
  • who has a good track record of success at an operational and strategic level.
  • An understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, Charity Commission, relevant legislations and statutory requirements
  • A thorough understanding of HR policy and practice • Experience of performance management, HR/employment law issues and implementing them contextually
  • Working effectively as a Trustee team member and demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop
  • Excellent networking skills, influencing and communication skills.
  • And someone who believes in what our charity  is doing

Commitment:

0-3 hours / weekOur Trustees meet 8 times a year and each Trustee is asked to lead on a piece of work e.g. HR which would require extra time.
