Shannon Trust – Seeking a Treasurer to join our active Board of Trustees

Shannon Trust supports thousands of prisoners a year to transform their lives by unlocking the power of reading. We inspire and train prisoners who can read to teach prisoners who can’t.

Shannon Trust is seeking an inspiring individual to become members of our active, committed Board of Trustees in the role of Treasurer.

As Treasurer, you will play a vital role in providing overview, insight and guidance to the Board regarding organisational financial strategy and legislative compliance. In addition, as a member of the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for governance, strategy, performance management, and leadership of the charity.

We welcome applications from people with a range of different backgrounds with proven experience of effective financial management and ideally an accountancy qualification. In particular, we are seeking people with experience and knowledge of charity finance, but this is not essential. Appropriate training and support will be offered.

You will be joining a forward looking, national charity that supports men and women in prisons across England, Wales and Northern Ireland via our simple and effective peer mentored approach. You will be part of a wider team of Trustees, employees, and volunteers who provide the framework in which prisoners teach other prisoners to learn to read.

This is an unpaid role, but reasonable expenses will be paid for travel to meetings and agreed out of pocket expenditure.

If you are interested in joining the team at Shannon Trust as Trustee Treasurer please contact stephen@shannontrust.org.uk for an application pack..

Completed applications must be received by 26th May 2019.
Interviews will be held during week commencing 10 June 2019.
