Trustee Vacancy (financial experience needed) at DASH (Destitute Asylum Seekers Huddersfield).

DASH is a small charity in Huddersfield, with eager and passionate volunteers, three committed part-time staff, and a board of enthusiastic trustees. We are now looking for a fellow trustee with financial ability to join us. If you would like to become part of an organisation helping to reduce the risk of destitution faced by asylum seekers and refugees, please read on.

DASH gives practical help by running drop in sessions, providing advocacy, signposting and support, referrals to other organisations, ESOL lessons, enrichment activities, social networking support, and campaigning on asylum related issues. Staff and volunteers give advice and practical support to help asylum seekers and refugees overcome the hurdles to survival in what is a new and sometimes very challenging environment. More is on our website at www.huddsdash.org

DASH needs an additional Trustee. We are looking for someone who can support our financial administration and planning. Experience working with a charity isn’t essential. We will support the new trustee into the role. However, experience of managing finances, the ability to use appropriate software, and an empathy to the aims of our charity are necessary.

We are looking for someone who can attend the full trustee meetings (every 10 weeks or so) and support our work. There’s also a finance sub-group, and if possible, attendance at both the full trustees meeting and the sub-group (i.e. an evening meeting of around 1.5 hours every five weeks) would be perfect. And if you would like to do even more, there’s plenty of scope!

If you would like further information please contact the chair of trustees at Stephan.j@huddsdash.org, and we could arrange a conversation or a visit to one of our drop-in sessions.

We hope you feel encouraged to apply. Please send your c.v. by email to  Stephan.j@huddsdash.org , by Monday 10th February. All applications will be treated in strict confidence to the trustees at DASH.
