Who we are
Funding for All mentors small charities, voluntary organisations and community groups from across Kent and Medway. We specialise in bid writing skills, funding strategy, business planning, marketing and communications, tendering, legacies, gift aid and developing budgets.
Funding for All is a successful charity dedicated to inspiring and empowering community organisations in Kent and Medway to build their fundraising capacity to deliver sustainable projects.
We believe small and medium charities and community groups have a huge part to play in the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the people in their area. These groups are value driven, motivated by social goals, and have a closeness to and understanding of the needs of their service users and communities. They deliver excellent services, often delivering outcomes that the public sector finds it hard to achieve.
Our mission is to enable these small charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in Kent and Medway to be the best they can, by providing free specialist mentoring in governance and fundraising, our core service. Working with infrastructure organisations, local authorities and other supporters and stakeholders, we aim to empower the county’s voluntary and community sector to be successful and sustainable.
We aim to grow our board of trustees to expand our expertise - this includes recruiting a new Treasurer.
Whether you are an experienced trustee or wanting to take your first steps at board level, we want to hear from you.
Our preferred applicants will be based in Kent, or at least have knowledge of Kent’s diverse communities.
Our trustees do not undertake the day-to-day running of the charity, which is delegated to our excellent salaried staff team who are crucial to the smooth running of the charity. They work tirelessly, responsively and flexibly, under the guidance of the board of trustees.
New trustees who have skills or experience in one or more of the following areas will be particularly welcomed:
· marketing and PR;
· fundraising, particularly corporate and public sector;
· developing networks and influencing;
· governance of small groups and charities.
As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to:
· fulfil a vital role in the voluntary sector;
· make a significant difference to a cause that matters to you;
· meet like-minded people who share your enthusiasm;
· access excellent trustee training;
· gain experience of strategy and leadership, and boost your CV;
· have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience while learning from others.
The role is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
The minimum expected time commitment is four trustee meetings per year. Meetings are normally held in Maidstone at 5:30pm, although they are currently being held via Zoom.
Although the staff team carries out the day-to-day operation of the charity, trustees are sometimes called upon to attend meetings and other events, with public sector organisations, funders and other supporters.
