The Feathers Association is seeking a new Trustee and Honorary Treasurer. This is a voluntary role.
The Feathers Association:
The principal objective of The Feathers Association is to provide opportunities for children and young people in London to develop in a positive way through informal education, sporting, cultural and recreational activities which the charity has provided since 1934.
Our aim is to enable young people to cope more effectively with the transition from adolescence to adulthood and to enable young people to understand and act on personal, social and political issues which affect their lives, the lives of others and the communities of which they form a part.
We believe it is important to increase the ability of young people to identify, advocate and pursue their rights and responsibilities as individual citizens, as well as develop their capabilities – physical, intellectual, moral, social and emotional.
We achieve our objectives through funding of projects working directly with children and young people, be that through our own youth club in Marylebone (The Fourth Feathers) or by providing grants to other youth clubs and organisations.
Our income derives primarily from funds under management, our flagship fundraising balls and rental income
The Treasurer Role:
The Feathers Association Treasurer is an appointed Trustee whose overarching role is to maintain an overview of the Association’s financial viability and affairs, ensuring they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
The Treasurer presents the annual budget and quarterly management accounts to the Trustees and oversees the production of the annual audited accounts. The day to day bookkeeping, accountancy work and production of reports and accounts is performed by our longstanding contracted accountant.
The Treasurer is a signatory on our online bank account and is required to provide authorisation of payment of invoices. This normally requires logging into the online banking system once a week. The Chair acts as back up in the event the Treasurer is not available.
Ideally the Treasurer would hold a recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or similar)
