Job Description

BRICKS
Trustee Recruitment Pack

Bricks is a charity formed to support the communities and the artists of Bristol to thrive through community space and collaboration.

Our plan is to purchase, repurpose and run Trinity Road Police Station as a mixed use artspace: a collaborative platform that supports artists in Bristol to thrive and is an asset to the local communities of Trinity (Old Market, St Judes, Stapleton and Newtown).

Our model for the building is based on the creation of a set of adaptable spaces to suit the flexible wasys artists and communities want to use space. Places to make, engage, and connect including affordable artist studios, exhibition and event spaces, a community nursery, community cafe, creative industries workspaces and other uses responding to the needs and requests of the community.

We are engaging in a process of ongoing collaboration with our communities to identify their needs and address them in the model.

For the community we are a long term partner, a meeting place, a connector bringing people together and connecting with place. We are creating a shared asset that many artists, collectives and curators can use to maximise their projects, bringing in outside funding, having reliable, safe and well resourced infrastructure to work with.

Our focus is on creating a long term sustainable and resilient model that is not dependent on grant funding. By owning the building we can invest in the space as an asset with surplus subsidising our work with artists and communities. Keeping artists in communities, supporting an inclusive growth in Trinity area and giving everyone in the area the opportunity to connect with their creativity.
