DEMAND is a remarkable charity for disabled people that removes barriers to inclusion, participation and independence.
What will you be doing?
We have an effective and collaborative Board of friendly and committed trustees, who, with our CEO, have established the new strategic plan for DEMAND to expand our impact by creating of an open access workshop and co-work space. As we move into the implementation phase, we recognise the need to address skills gaps in our Board in the areas of social enterprise or community development and also to strengthen our existing expertise by appointing a disability professional.
We wish to appoint two trustees who can draw on their skills and experience to help the Board guide the charity as it transitions to its new strategic goal. We would welcome applications from:
1. Those with experience in social enterprise (e.g. maker space or co-working space or a social entrepreneur) or in community development, building people networks (real and virtual).
2. Disability professionals (e.g. occupational therapist with functional or vocational rehab expertise).
2.3. Those with financial and accounting experience, particularly in the social enterprise or charity sector, but also more broadly in business.
In particular, we are looking for people with some experience as a Trustees or a non-executive director, although we would also like to hear from you if you are wanting to develop your skills at Board level.
The expected time commitment is a minimum of four half-day Board sessions a year plus some additional preparation time for reading reports and meeting papers.

We are at a significant change point in our 40+ year journey and we are looking for trustees who can draw on their skills and experience to help the Board guide the charity as it transitions to its new strategic goal of maximising our impact by strengthening our existing work and making ourselves available to a whole new audience by creating an open access workshop and co-work space
