SARSAS is an award-winning team of specialists who stand alongside people affected by sexual violence; Listening, believing & supporting them to reclaim their lives and campaigning to stop sexual violence happening to others.
We provide vital support to women and girls and men and boys through our Helpline, counselling, group work and specialist support services.
We are looking for 3 women* who can offer energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to join our volunteer Board of Trustees at SARSAS. You will be joining an active Board and will play a pivotal role in shaping SARSAS and supporting our work.
Charity trustees are the people who share ultimate responsibility for governing a charity and directing how it is managed and run.
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic and governance oversight and direction for the sustainability of SARSAS and to ensure its work for the benefit of its service users
What are we looking for?
- Commitment to the work of SARSAS
- Knowledge of the type of work undertaken by SARSAS and a wider involvement with the voluntary sector and other networks
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to be part of the SARSAS Board – including regular attendance at Board Meetings, the Annual General Meeting and Away Days
- Strategic vision
- Good, independent judgement
- An ability to think creatively
- A willingness to speak your mind
You don’t need prior experience being a trustee; If you are committed, passionate, and determined, we would love to hear from you. We will provide all the training and support you might need to be an amazing trustee.
The nature of the work undertaken means that this invitation is for women-only and exempt under Schedule 9 Part 1 Equalities Act 2010
It matters to us that our Trustees reflect the incredibly diverse communities we serve, and we are actively seeking younger women, women from Black, Asian and minoritised communities and women with a disability for these voluntary roles.
4 board meetings p.a., plus [working group / sub committees] and preparation time. Additional time may be required for other volunteer roles taken on.
