Job Description

Could you be our next Trustee?

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is bringing wildlife back to Cheshire, Wirral, Halton, Warrington and South Manchester.  We live in one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and the Cheshire area has seen wildlife decline in the face of intensive farming, development and climate change.  Our mission is to change this and we need passionate people on our Board of Trustees who can help us deliver our strategy for a Wilder Cheshire.

Our Board of Trustees is drawn from our 15,500 strong membership to represent the 2.2m people we serve across the Cheshire region.  We need an inclusive and diverse Board to help lead the Charity as it grows.

We are looking for Trustees who bring different perspectives, life experience or technical skills.  You don’t need to be a natural history expert - we’ve got plenty of those amongst our staff!  Most of all you need to be a team player, able to contribute to strategic thinking, critically analyse information and support our brilliant team of staff in doing what they do best.  No previous experience of serving as a Trustee is necessary.  You will need to be over 18 and ideally live in the Cheshire region or be able to travel in to the region for meetings.

If you have experience in any of the following areas we’d love to hear from you:

  • IT/ digital technology
  • Finance
  • HR
  • Education/ youth work or academia
  • Land agency/ land management/ agriculture/ecology
  • Voluntary sector
  • Community engagement/ communications/ marketing/campaigning

Please don’t be put off applying if your skills lie outside of the areas above as we are looking for several new Trustees that together provide a broad range of skills, opinions and approaches.

For a full Trustee candidate information pack please contact

To apply, please send your 2-page CV along with a covering letter setting our why you are passionate about CWTs work, what you think you would bring to the Board and what you are looking to get out of it.  Applications should be submitted via Emma Raine, HR & Volunteering Manager no later than 7th June 2021.
