TVS is a small, volunteer led, charity providing expert support, education and training for children and teachers in an impoverished part of the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. Learners in this rural area suffer from multiple disadvantages, such as geographic isolation and lack of basic amenities, which directly impact on education. Educational achievement ranks among the lowest nationally.
During the covid-19 pandemic schools have been either wholly or partly closed for almost nine months and without access to information technology to enable continued study the children’s education has suffered appallingly.
We are looking for new trustees to help us to tackle this issue and to carry our work forward in a sustainable manner.
Do you have experience, skills, and knowledge of one or more of the following? If so, we would love to hear from you!
- Fundraising (with skills in either donor management, funding bids or digital marketing branding and social media)
- Communication and stakeholder engagement
- Organisational development
This is an unpaid voluntary role which is a hands-on opportunity for someone looking for professional development and wishing to help shape the future of a charity and make a real difference to children’s lives. You will need to be committed to our vision and values and keen to get involved. You must be able to commit to attend 4 board meetings per year (held virtually) and, if necessary, to devote some ad hoc time to the charity’s business.
We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. For a full role description, or for an informal chat please contact Margaret Kiloh on 07986971301 or firstname.lastname@example.org
