Job Description

‘Quality of life, to the end of life, for everyone’

Would you like to help us achieve our Vision?

We are looking for a new Trustee from a financial background to join the Board of Thames Hospice in Windsor.

For over 30 Years Thames Hospice has provided holistic care to individuals with life-limiting disease as well as supporting their families and carers.  Care is provided at home, as an in-patient, and in our Day Therapy Unit for our local community in East Berkshire and South Bucks.  2020 is an exceptional year for Thames Hospice – in October we will be moving to a fabulous £22m, state-of-the-art new building on the shore of Bray Lake.  The advent of C-19 has necessitated immediate and major changes to clinical care, but our dedicated teams have continued to provide the very best palliative and end-of-life care possible.  During the pandemic we have contributed to local healthcare provision as part of the local NHS Integrated Care System.

We are looking to recruit a new Trustee from a financial management background with some of the following skills:

·         A qualified Accountant;

·          An individual who has experience in a senior financial position of medium to large organisations;

·         Someone with commercial knowledge and awareness.

You would be joining our high performing Board to help us achieve our vision at a time when financial sustainability has just become so much more challenging and is imperative to the ongoing success of our organisation.  Previous Board/Trustee experience is not required; as necessary training is provided.

We are committed to increasing the diversity of our Board and would thus welcome applications from all backgrounds.  Prior knowledge of palliative care is not essential but we are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and empathetic individual.

This is a voluntary position, but you would need to commit to attending four Board meetings, two Senior Leadership Team afternoon sessions, and at least four committee meetings annually.  Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.  Becoming a Trustee will provide a new challenge, an opportunity to boost your career and to give something back to the community.

Closing date: 15th September 2020.
