Job Description

Northmoor Community Association are looking for individuals to join us to support the organisation’s strategic plans going forward, reflecting our future needs in light of the recent events affecting our community.

Northmoor Community Association (NCA) is an independent charity run with an emphasis on relieving poverty, promoting health & wellbeing, advancing skills & learning and enhancing the quality of life for the people who engage with us. Being a trustee at Northmoor Community Association will provide you an opportunity to have a profound impact on an organisation that has the needs of the community at its heart. Your skills and experience will help support and shape the work and strategic direction of our organisation. We are a proactive and supportive team and offer the opportunity to be a valued member of our board and to give something back to the community.

We are a learning organisation, whose main objective is to meet the needs of the community in Longsight. You will join a collaborative and open team and contribute with your skills and experience to keep our high standards of service and commitment to our clients. We have been awarded a PQASSO quality assurance mark, which is a great achievement for a small organisation such as ourselves.

Role summary

  • Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
  • Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its corporate behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements including GDPR.
  • Acting as guardians of the charity?s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
  • Ensuring that the charity?s governance is of the highest possible standard.
  • As well as the various statutory duties, any Trustee should make full use of any specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the board make effective decisions.

Person Description:

We are interested in hearing from individuals with any of the following skills and experience:

  • Safeguarding
  • Charity management
  • Previous experience of being a trustee or chair would be advantageous
  • A good understanding of the local challenges and issues faced by the services users residing in the Northmoor-Manchester area.

We are fully committed to increasing the diversity of our board of trustees. Having a more diverse board will help us to understand better the needs of the communities we serve. We would especially welcome applications from people from a variety of ethnic minority backgrounds who are currently under-represented on our board.

Time commitment

The Board meets 6 times a year for 1 1/2 hours in the evening (6.30pm-8pm) and one AGM. The Trustee will be expected to join one of the subcommittees.
