Join us as a trustee and help to change the lives of disabled and seriously ill children.
Family Fund Trust is a unique grant-giving charity with a 47-year history supporting low-income families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people across the UK.
Our support helps break down some of the barriers and ease the additional pressures that many families face when raising a child or young person with a disability or serious illness. Through our grant making and services, we work hard to make life easier for families, making a practical difference to a family’s well-being, their opportunities, and the lives of their children and young people.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual who will bring passion and commitment, as well as skills and experience to our Board. Trustees play an active role in governing the charity and are responsible for setting vision, strategic priorities, and for ensuring that the charity complies with legal, charitable and financial requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their own skills and experience, while at the same time, giving back to a nationwide charity that makes a real practical difference to the lives of families every day.
We are currently seeking a qualified accountant with experience of charity accounting to join our Board of Trustees. In due course we will also be seeking trustees with experience of working in the special educational needs and disability (SEND) arena
We are keen to improve the diversity profile of our board, so that it represents all parts of the UK and the people we support. We would particularly welcome applications from disabled people, individuals of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds and women, as well as those who have personal experience of caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person.
The Board meets at least four times a year; three times in our offices in York and once per year in an alternative location. In between we communicate regularly by email and occasional teleconference. The positions are not remunerated, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
