Chailey Heritage Foundation has been changing the lives of young people with disabilities since 1903. We are looking for a new Trustee with a particular interest in fundraising to join our Fundraising sub-committee.
What will you be doing?
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the Charity and its governance. As a member of the Fundraising sub-committee, you would attend meetings every six weeks as well as main Trustee Board meetings four times per year.
As a Trustee on the Fundraising sub-committee, we would like you to:
- be an ‘ambassador’ for the Charity
- bring drive and enthusiasm to the Charity’s fundraising strategy and annual programme
- act as a ‘critical friend’ to the fundraising team and contribute to the governance of the Charity's fundraising function
- support fundraising activities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a committed volunteer who is a strategic thinker and is willing to contribute to the Trustee Board's work.
You will have a keen interest in fundraising (but not necessarily be a fundraiser). Knowledge of the charity sector would be helpful but not essential. We are looking for someone to be an 'ambassador' who would be comfortable talking about the Charity's work to a wide range of people including potential donors and supporters.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of the charity sector would be helpful but not essential.
- Knowledge and/or experience of the education, social care or health sectors
- Understanding of disability and its implications for individuals and families
- Analytical skills
Meetings every 6 weeks for 2 hours plus quarterly board meetings for 2 hours.
What difference will you make?
Every voluntary donation goes directly to benefit the children and young people in our care, such as funding specialist equipment (e.g. eye gaze equipment), providing adapted minibuses, providing specialist therapeutic horse riding and weekly sessions for our parent/baby/toddler group. Voluntary income also provides for new buildings and refurbishment of existing buildings. These all make a real difference and have a big impact on the young people and their families using our services.
As a Trustee, we need you to be an 'ambassador' for the charity, to tell the stories of our young people's achievements, to support fundraising activities and act as a 'critical friend' to the fundraising team.
What's in it for the volunteer?
Chailey Heritage Foundation is one of the UK's leading centres for children and young people with complex neuro-disabilities with a national reputation for excellent services and outcomes. You will be joining an experienced and engaged Trustee Board of a well-managed charity and will be able to contribute to the growth and development of the Charity and to the work of a highly successful fundraising team. You will see first hand the difference donations make to the lives of the young people and their families.
We are a friendly charity that welcomes Trustees' active involvement and support.
