The Museum of Military Medicine Trust is recruiting new Trustees
The Museum of Military Medicine Trust CIO is in the process of relocating the Museum from its current site at Keogh Barracks, near Aldershot, to Cardiff Bay. This is part of an ambitious programme to establish the collection as a fully independent museum with a sustainable business model by the early 2020s, in partnership with academic institutions.
We are seeking to appoint three new trustees with responsibility for marketing and communications, finance and fundraising, and legal expertise to join our board. We would like especially to hear from people with relevant backgrounds who can lead on planning, developing and implementing our marketing and fundraising strategies and public relations activities, and provide legal oversight concerning the redevelopment programme.
In particular we are seeking trustees with strong heritage, commercial, and/or third sector backgrounds.
The role of a trustee for the Museum is varied, exciting and hugely rewarding. Key responsibilities for the new trustee roles are:
• Champion a fundraising strategy that targets corporate givers, trusts and foundations, high net worth individuals and legacies
• Provide advice on approaches to trusts, corporations and other bodies that could potentially make grants to the organisation
• Oversee funding proposals and applications for grants.
• Help define and champion a marketing strategy that builds market share of target audiences, and advances institutional and programmatic marketing
• Provide support on marketing plans, strategies and initiatives for all commercial activities including exhibitions, retail, catering, corporate hire, conferencing, and education
• Promotes a clear digital strategy to ensure consistency of messaging and user experience across MMM’s website, online retail, social media and digital advertising
• Provide support on legal matters, including implementation of strategic and operational initiatives for all activities, including the relocation project, operational matters, retail, catering, corporate hire, conferencing, and education
• Liaising with external consultants on legal issues and advising the Board of Trustees accordingly.
Time commitment: Board Meetings are held every three months during the late morning, from 11 a.m. onwards. During this development phase there are also more frequent meetings of the project development team.
