Deadline – Sept 27th

The Abbeyfield East London Extra Care Society is an independent not for profit organisation affiliated to The Abbeyfield Society.

We provide high quality, stimulating and holistic residential care for elderly people living with dementia. The support and care we provide to our residents enables their families to go about their everyday lives knowing that their loved ones are safe and well cared for in a homely environment.

We are looking to recruit a Treasurer/Trustee to oversee the financial performance of the organisation and participate in strategy matters.

Role

We employ a part time qualified Finance Officer with one Finance Administrator in support. The Treasurer will oversee the financial performance of the Home on behalf of the Board and act as a sounding board for the Finance Officer on all financial matters.

The Treasurer will liaise with the Finance Officer generally by phone or email but if available can visit in person to discuss matters. This will include review of results, budget development and control processes, the latter including approval of payments which can be handled remotely. The home has to deal with pricing and costing of services as part of its operation.

The role will include working with all other board members on strategy and also with the Home Manager.

What are we looking for?

The person will be a qualified accountant with experience in monitoring the performance of organisations and managing/directing staff. They will be a good communicator and team player.

The home looks after vulnerable elderly people who suffer mainly with Dementia so the individual has the opportunity to contribute to this worthy goal.

What's in it for the volunteer?

The volunteer will be part of the Board that provides governance to this independent organisation and allows it to continue to provide its services to some older people when at a vulnerable stage of their lives.

It's an opportunity to use ones experience in business to provide guidance and advice on a wide range of issues in support of the staff that provide the backbone of the operation 365 days a year. As an independent organisation the staff only has the Trustees to turn to for guidance when advice is needed and they always appreciate the value of this help.

Time Commitment

The Treasurer will be expected to attend Board meetings which are scheduled on the second Wednesday of each month, currently held in the morning. Other than that communication by phone or email can be at the individual’s convenience.

How to Apply

Applications should be sent via Reach in the first instance. Please email a CV to the TrusteeWorks team.
