About the role
At Headway East London, we find strength and passion from our community. We understand what our members need and we co-produce services to meet those needs.
And what we do is excellent. From art-based therapy to vital outreach, we support people with brain injuries and their families to really thrive.
We think that being able to have support with simple things like claiming benefits, budgeting or even paperwork make a real difference to the quality of life for our members.
Our service centre is a vibrant community hub offering activities, therapies and both peer and professional support. From super clubs to graffiti projects, our services are both innovative and needs based. Our occupational projects include an art studio, writing projects, music therapy and a professional kitchen where members cook each day for others, volunteers, staff and visitors.
In particular, we host Submit to Love; a studio and home to a collective of self-taught artists – all of whom have survived brain injuries. Our studio has developed a set of unique practices and interests, refined over more than a decade.
Our specialist neurological therapy service is renowned for our unique inter-disciplinary approach.
The effects of brain injury are long term and so is our support.
Who we're looking for
We’re looking for a Treasurer who will be a real driver in developing our new strategy and supporting our people to be both happy and to fulfil their potential.
We’re on a mission to develop as an organisation and support more people. Do you have a background in finance and an understanding of charity finance?
You’ll provide support to our Finance Manager and help develop better financial insight for fellow board members.
This is a really exciting time to join our Board – we have big plans, a ‘can do’ attitude and a values-based approach.
You’ll get a fantastic induction and a mighty peer support network. Our Board meets five times a year in the evening and we have three sub-committees: Governance committee, Finance and Audit committee and a Remuneration committee. We expect our Trustees to join one subcommittee and our Treasurer to Chair the Finance and Audit Committee. Overall we expect the time commitment to be up to a day a month including ad hoc emails, telephone calls and attending events when it is safe to do so.
Do you think you can offer diversity of thinking, a positive and ambitious outlook and a love of community powered services? We’d love to hear from you.
