HELP US GIVE HOPE TO GRIEVING CHILDREN
We are recruiting a Treasurer to our board
We were the first charity in the UK to start providing support for children and young people grieving after the death of a parent or sibling.
Since 1992 we have ensured that hundreds of thousands of children and young people have received the support they need through our blend of services, training, publications and advocacy.
This is an extraordinarily important time to be joining us as a member of our board. In September 2020 we launched a new blended delivery model that is already transforming the way we deliver our services through digital, and will expand the support we can give across the UK in the years ahead. At the same time, the coronavirus pandemic has created both demand for what we do which will only grow in the weeks, months and years ahead, and pressure on our funders.
Whether you’re an experienced trustee or looking to take your first step at board level, we want to hear from you.
We are looking for a Treasurer to join our experienced board this autumn.
The Treasurer at Winston’s Wish helps us guide, steer and scrutinise our financial performance and planning now and in the future.
As a trustee you will:
- Have the right values, skills and experience, passion, energy and drive to make a difference to grieving children and young people’s lives across the UK
- Have a desire to play a part in stewarding our organisation through the next stage in its journey
- Be as committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people as we are
- Value and champion equality, diversity and inclusion in everything you do
- Have networks of support and connections that you will use to help us achieve our goals and aims
You can be based anywhere in the UK and you will be expected to join four board meetings a year: two of them virtual, two of them in person. One will be a full day for strategy development. The Treasurer will also join the Finance, Risk and Audit Sub-Committee, and will be invited to Winston’s Wish events at which attendance of our board members is expected.
If this feels like it could be you, please take a look at our recruitment pack for more details and information on how to apply. If you would like to arrange an informal conversation with our CEO or Chair, you can do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for applications is 14th October 2021 with interviews to be held in the first and second weeks in November.
All trustee recruitment is done in line with our safer recruitment processes and will involve references, self-disclosure and DBS checks as well as interview and selection.
