The Anne Matthews Trust
The Anne Matthews Trust is a small charity working primarily to support young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to work together to combat the sources and effects of inequality, poverty, discrimination and oppression. We operate Braich Goch Bunkhouse, a residential learning centre in Mid-Wales. We host groups at Braich Goch for residential visits, which are tailor made to meet their individual needs. Braich Goch is also a community hub where people from the local rural community, and the refugee and migrant groups we bring into Braich Goch from towns and cities across Wales and the rest of the UK, can meet, share cultures and experiences, build relationships and foster understanding between communities.
We started life as a CIC and converted to a charity in March 2020, and we are now looking for a Treasurer to join our board of trustees. This is a voluntary role, and it's a great opportunity to get involved hands-on in a grassroots community organisation. We are especially interested in hearing from people who identify as black people or people of colour and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds, because we are committed to building a diverse board reflective of the communities we exist to serve.
