The Solihull Manor House Charity requires a Treasurer who will also be a Charity Trustee This is a voluntary position ,experience of Charity requirements useful but not essential. Hours are flexible and at your discretion , but you would be expected to attend full trustee meetings .

The Solihull Manor House (www.solihullmanorhouse.org) is a Grade2* listed timber framed house built around 1495 .It stands in the centre of Solihull and is open to the public 6 days a week.                                                                                                               The Charity exists to preserve the building and garden as a place of historic and natural beauty for the benefit and enjoyment of the community . Income is generated by renting out rooms to local businesses including a Tea Room .A warden is on site during opening hours. Bookkeeping and day ro day administration is done by the warden. The manual accounting system was set up 25 years ago and , although efficient , the new treasurer would be encouraged to update it if they wished to. The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose only voting members are its Charity trustees .There is a full trustees meeting every other month , and specific management meetings when required.                    Main responsibilities are:

Oversee the financial affairs of the Charity and ensure they are legal , constitutional and within accepted accounting practice

Act as a cheque signatory and trustee contact for the Bank

Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place ,

Liaise  with the Accountants , who currently prepare all accounts.

Monitor and report on the financial health of the Charity ,

Oversee the production of necessary financial reports /returns and accounts and audits.
