Relate - the relationship people
Relate is the UK's largest provider of relationship support, and every year we help over a million people of all ages, backgrounds and sexual orientations to strengthen their relationships. Our vision is a future in which healthy relationships are actively promoted as the heart of a thriving society. To achieve this vision, we offer a range of services including relationship counselling for individuals and couples, family counselling and mediation, children and young people's counselling, and sex therapy.
Our services are accessible online and through our network of Relate Centres and we also provide bespoke training courses and support for professionals and organisations. An important part of our role is providing evidence based policy and campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of healthy relationships and to ensure that this is recognised in public policy.

The Honorary Treasurer role
The Relate Board will understand the importance of healthy relationships to our society, be passionate about our work and the benefit it brings to people’s lives. As well as overseeing the formation and delivery of Relate’s long-term strategic aims, trustees are responsible for upholding the charity’s reputation; the Treasurer won’t just advise on the financial health of the organisation and ensure appropriate checks and measures are in place to safeguard it, but will equally play their part in important decision-making which affects the governance of the organisation as whole.
Skills & Experience
The Relate Treasurer will have demonstrable experience in financial management and strategy and have acute commercial awareness. He/she will be a qualified chartered accountant, and ideally wider involvement in the voluntary sector, and/or some knowledge of the work undertaken by Relate. Previous experience as a trustee or Treasurer, or as a Finance/Audit/Risk Committee Member would be additionally useful, as this role also involves chairing the Finance and Audit Committee.
