Job Description

About the organisation

Futures Theatre was established to create and produce work that puts women at the centre. Engaging with authentic female stories and developing partnerships with brilliant female artists we create theatre which ignites conversation and engenders change.

About the role

Futures Theatre are looking for a new Treasurer to join the Board of Trustees

The role of this Trustee will be to assist the Artistic Director and Executive Producer with the financial management of the charity, offering oversight and guidance as the company continues its efforts to diversify income streams. You will lead on the financial strategy for the charity as well as creation of the annual accounts. This role does not require support with everyday finance activity.

We are, therefore, ideally looking for someone with the following knowledge and skills:

  • Extensive experience, and proven success, in financial management.
  • Knowledge and experience of current finance practice, including fundraising, relevant to voluntary and community organisations.

This is an outline and is not definitive or restrictive in any way.

By providing your financial oversight to the charity you will help to ensure that we continue to produce work that amplifies the female voice and creates a space for change. You will be joining a small and friendly team who are passionate about the work of the organisation.

What are we looking for?

  1. An enthusiasm for the work of Futures Theatre.
  2. A sympathy for marginalised communities and a commitment to promote women’s opportunities in particular.
  3. A commitment to carry out the duties of a Board Membership.
  4. A commitment to attend meetings – 4 Board Meetings held a year (including the AGM), currently held in the evenings in Waterloo, and to offer time to support staff and initiatives within Futures.
  5. A commitment to attend performances by the Futures and any other key events, where appropriate.
  6. The ability to work as a member of a team and a willingness to state personal convictions and, equally, to accept a majority decision and be tolerant of the views of other people.
  7. A preparedness to offer personal and business skills and experience to support the work of the staff when required.
  8. A willingness to act as an advocate for Futures.

Time commitment

  • Four Board Meetings held a year (including the AGM), currently held in the evenings in Waterloo, and to offer time to support staff and initiatives within Futures.
  • A commitment to attend performances by the Futures and any other key events, where appropriate.

How to apply

Applications must be made via TrusteeWorks in the first instance. To apply, please submit your CV along with a covering letter stating why you wish to join the organisation, how your skills would add value to the board and any other relevant information.
