Job Description

Trustee and treasurer  

Suzy Lamplugh Trust is looking for a new treasurer from October 2018. If you have accountancy skills and experience and would like to contribute to the work of the leading personal safety charity, we would like to hear from you.

The Trust was founded in 1986 by Paul and Diana Lamplugh, after the disappearance of their daughter whilst going about her work as an estate agent, in order to campaign and work for ways of reducing violence and aggression in our society and to improve personal safety.  Since then, it has moved from being a small, family-run organisation to a highly professional and well respected national charity. Its reach goes well beyond its small size: its advice and information are used by companies, public sector bodies, charities and individuals from all walks of life, and its views are sought by policy makers and decision makers.

We are looking for a committed individual with accountancy skills and experience to take over from our current treasurer, who is due to retire in October 2018.  

We are also keen to improve the diversity of our board of trustees and would therefore particularly encourage applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic communities. 

We pay trustees' travel expenses and provide a full induction to the work of the charity.

The trustee we appoint to this role will be expected to attend four board meetings (held on a weekday evening in London) and to chair four meetings of the finance sub-committee per year. The treasurer is also invited to join the chair and vice chair at a monthly catch-up call with the chief executive.
