THE ABBEYFIELD (BERKHAMSTED AND HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) SOCIETY LIMITED

We are currently looking for a new Treasurer Trustee to join the Abbeyfield (Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead) Society Board to expand the breadth of its skills, expertise and diversity. Our charity exists to enhance the quality of life for older people through the provision of supported assisted housing where our residents are at the heart of everything we do. The future aim of our charity is to ensure that we remain relevant for the needs of older people and we have a policy of continuous improvement to achieve this.

We are seeking a individual who are passionate about our cause, willing and able to devote the necessary time and effort to the organisation, able to think creatively and speak their mind, and have an understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of the trusteeship. This role requires someone with a background in finance and who holds a professional accountancy qualification.

The role responsibilities include:

●     Supporting the board in understanding the financial position of the charity and the financial implications of the decisions being made.

●     Providing oversight of and contribution in the preparation of the annual accounts.

●     Keeping the board informed about the financial duties and responsibilities.

●     Ensuring that the organisation pursues its purpose, as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy

●     Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

●     Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects for the benefit of the residents.

●     Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place

●     Attending the Board Meetings

There have been several changes within our Society over the last few years and we are now looking for a period of consolidation so would be looking for someone willing to commit to our Society for at least one three-year term of office. We carry out an enhanced DBS check and take two references due to the vulnerable nature of our residents.
