The Sir John Golding Fund is seeking a new treasurer.
The Sir John Golding Fund is a UK registered charity principally supporting the work of the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre in Mona, Kingston, Jamaica.
The Fund principally operates by raising funds - from donors and its stock market investments - and providing grants to a Jamaican registered charity, which in turns supports the Centre directly.
The treasurer role includes:
- attending trustee meetings, approximately four per year in early evening. These used to be held in central London but more recently have been held remotely. I expect that this will continue post-COVID,
- monitoring stock market investments (managed by a third party),
- monitoring cash and initiating bank transfers, and
- preparing the annual financial statements.
This would be a great 'introductory' treasurer role as it is relatively simple.
Many of the existing trustees have some connection to Jamaica, but this is not essential (the current treasurer has none).
