Job Description

Treasurer for Alcohol Change UK

Help to save millions of people from the scourge of alcohol harm

Alcohol Change UK is a dynamic, positive, forward-thinking social change agency. We reject moralising and ideological approaches to alcohol. We are not against alcohol, or indee drinkenness. We are focused on eliminating the harm that is created by alcohol, without removing the fun from life. We are both serious and playful, impactful and innovative, evidence-based and change-led. Our board of trustees is welcoming, hard-working, and high-functioning.

Following the natural end of term of our existing Treasurer, we are now looking for a new Treasurer. You will bring knowledege of charity finances and strong interpersonal skills, but you do not need to have experience as a trustee or treasurer. We particularly welcome applications from people from minoritised groups and as such will be prioritising your skills and abilities over your experience gained. We recognise that everyone has to start somewhere, and that relevant experience can be harder to come by for some people, due to structural discrimination.

As Treasurer, you will bring particular financial acumen to the board, offering advice and your valuable perspective, but without removing from the trustee board its collective responsibility for decision-making. As Treasurer you will also have some specific responsibilities: chairing our Finance & General Purposes sub-committee, being the trustee contact for our auditors, and authorising payments.

We're looking for someone committed to our mission, who shares our values of truth-seeking, ambition and compassion, and who is clear, articulate and a team player.

We can offer a great trustee experience, including investing in your development.

The deadline for applications is 7 May. All the information you need should be in the full candidate pack, downloadable from the Reach Volunteering website, but you are also welcome to contact our CEO for further details.
