Splitz Support Service

Established in 1989, Splitz Support Service is a leading provider of domestic abuse services in South West England.   We are a service-user led organisation, working closely with partner agencies and local communities to develop and deliver a range of relevant and innovative services and solutions for the victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse.  Our staff are critical to what we do and investment in their on-going training and pastoral support is an essential part of the charity.

Our current Trustee Treasurer is due to retire after many years of dedicated service to the Charity.  We are now looking for an experienced accountant to take up this role.  Ideally you will have experience of charity finance and understand the nature of our funding together with the complexities of how we are required to report on it   We will need you to be able to:

  • Oversee, approve and present budgets, accounts and financial statements

  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board.

  • Ensure that appropriate accounting procedures, policies and controls are in place.

  • Advise on the financial implications of the Charity’s strategic plans.

  • Ensure that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant bodies.

  • Ensure that the accounts are audited and ensure our auditors recommendations are implemented.

  • Keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.

  • Chair the finance sub-committee.

  • Be an active member of the Board

You will be joining a dynamic and committed Board at an exciting time for the Charity, with the Trustees focused on the strategic direction of the charity, whilst ensuring effectiveness and accountability.. The Trustee role can be very rewarding and enjoyable offering an opportunity to serve the community whilst learning new skills.  

There are ten Trustee meetings a year usually at the Head Office in Trowbridge, these take place between 9.30 am and 11.30 am. In addition, there are quarterly finance sub-committee meetings.
