Your colleagues are a friendly and enthusiastic group of Hardy fans and academics. We are looking for a Treasurer who will be able to come into the office three or four days in a month at times to suit you (during Museum opening hours), although if you live at a distance and can suggest ways of working remotely, we would consider this.
You will be responsible for payments made to and by the Hardy Society, for keeping all financial records (mostly on computer), and for preparing the annual financial report for the Charity Commission. You will be a signatory on the THS chequebook. And you will sit on the Society’s Council of Management which meets 6 times a year on a Saturday.
There are two ‘downsides’ to the position: (1) it is voluntary (ie unpaid) and (2) the office is on the top floor of Dorset County Museum in Dorchester and there is no lift.
But the ‘upside’ is that you will be working (and playing) with a great team, to perpetuate the gift to the world of Dorset’s great writer, Thomas Hardy.
