Could you join The Parish Trust family as a treasurer? Since founding in 2019, we have grown exponentially and we now need someone who shares our vision and ethos to help drive our finances forward. You might be the person for this exciting role!
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a passionate, dynamic treasurer who shares our vision and ethos as a charity. The Parish Trust was set up in 2019 by Rev. Dean Aaron Roberts as a charity based on Christian values to help the local church engage in mission and evangelism, and to help the community in practical ways. We are a fledgling charity, but over the last 12 months we have grown considerably and are now operating a six figure budget. We cover vast swathes of Caerphilly County Borough, and dip into parts of Newport county and Cardiff too.
We need someone who is good with technology, as all our accounts are online (ExpensePlus). We have a very proactive Chair of Trustees, and are currently recruiting an Accountancy Apprentice who will be on hand to help you with day to day bookkeeping.
You will need to be OK with trying new projects and ideas that will have cost implications, and we would ideally like someone who has knowledge and experience of successful grant writing and funding to share their expertise with us.
We need to find ongoing core costs for the charity to continue its development within the next 12 months, and we want to continue to be a charity that is thriving, rather than one that reduces to simply surviving. We feel that the treasurer role is vital to the continued and sustained growth of our work. We don't have any cash worries as our accounts have been successfully managed to date. However, as with all charitable work, the need to constantly find funding is ever present.
Our outgoing treasurer has been with us since founding and has done a fantastic job of helping to shape the vision and direction of the charity, providing invaluable support and backup in the way of our financial outlook. However, as the CEO of a significant business in Wales, she now needs to step back to spend more time helping her business to recover and grow in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. She will still be on hand to give support to the new treasurer, if that is requested by the new treasurer.
The software we use has a very helpful support system, and ongoing training can be provided at any time as part of the charity's subscription.
You'd be joining a board of trustees with a vision and drive to see The Parish Trust positively impact the area we serve, and you'd be part of wider family of a growing staff team, and over 200 active volunteers.
If you like what you read, we'd love to hear from you!
What are we looking for?
We really need someone who catches the vision of our charity, who has a drive to help others and improve our communities.
Beyond that, we need someone with good technological skills in the area of finance and accounting, and who is willing to undergo training on our software.
We would love to find someone who can help us with our grant and fundraising strategy, even though we have been quite successful at this over the last year.
What difference will you make?
You will be helping to secure the future of our charity and transforming it from a fledgling organisation to a robust, secure charity with a significant record of achievement and reporting. Your role will enable us to be transparent and open, and ready to tackle new challenges and opportunities that we will face in the future.
What's in it for the volunteer?
You will be joining a proactive family of people who vest their interest in The Parish Trust. Your role will directly benefit our stakeholders and beneficiaries, many of whom are suffering the effects of multiple levels of deprivation. You will also be investing in the lives of young people as we train them up and offer them employment opportunities so that they can build a stable career for themselves.
