SSAFA supports those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who have served and the families of both. The Hertfordshire Branch offers support to those who live in the county and offers both financial assistance and advice to a wide range of people including World War 2 veterans, ex-National Servicemen and those who have served more recently, together with their families. The branch area is divided into divisions each division is managed by a division secretary who is aided by a divisional treasurer who is responsible for the maintenance of two divisional accounts.
A vacancy exists for a SSAFA Divisional Treasurer in Hertfordshire. The work is home based with no fixed hours and can be fitted around other commitments as it should take only a couple of hours each week. No formal accountancy qualifications are required though it helps to be numerate. Two SSAFA web-based IT financial systems are used to record transactions. A treasurer does not undertake welfare casework but familiarisation with this and other aspects of SSAFA activities will be provided. Local training is given in addition to a treasurer's course at SSAFA Central Office. Full expenses will be paid for all SSAFA related activities. As this is a position of trust a DSB clearance and references will be taken up.
