United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy is the leading organisation for the education, training, accreditation and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors in the UK (https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk)
Our register of more than 9,000 individual therapists is accredited by the government’s Professional Standards Authority (PSA). As part of our commitment to protecting the public, we work to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against therapists on our register.
We are seeking Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. The overall role of a Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
The Board of Trustees meet five times each year. The meetings require a full day in London (normally on a Friday) as well as preparation time. Trustees may also be asked to serve on sub-committees/working groups of the Board which will meet on an ad-hoc basis, as required.
The Treasurer is also Chair of the UKCP Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) and member of the Remuneration & Performance Management Committee (RPMC). The FAC hold 6 face-to-face meetings per year in London at the UKCP Office. The RPMC meet on an ad-hoc basis as required.
This is a voluntary, unpaid position. The Treasurer will be reimbursed for expenses incurred (e.g. travel and accommodation) in carrying out their duties in accordance with the UKCP Expense Policy. Trustees are not otherwise compensated for their service under charities and companies’ law.
