The Omega Research Foundation is a national charity based in Manchester that monitors the international trade in and use of military, security and police equipment. We are looking for a talented individual to join our board of trustees in the role of treasurer.
You should be willing to attend four weekday board meetings each year in Manchester and occasionally join in with other organisational activities, such as a yearly strategy day or staff recruitment. The role of treasurer involves providing advice and comment to trustees to enable the board of trustees as a collective body to reach decisions on financial matters, including management accounts and the annual report and accounts. Experience in explaining financial/accounting matters to those without those backgrounds is desirable. The role also entails liaison with the charity’s Resources and Finance Officer, who prepares all financial reports and deals with day-to-day financial and accounting matters.
You should have an understanding of the third sector, and a commitment to human rights, possibly with more detailed knowledge of the human rights sector or the arms and security trade. You should also have knowledge of accounting and finance.
