The Bureau of investigative Journalism is seeking to recruit three new trustees to support the organisation as members of our Board of Directors.
The Bureau, which is a non-profit organisation supported by philanthropy, is a pioneering initiative in investigative journalism. We exist to inform the public about systemic wrongs, challenge misinformation and spark change. Over recent years our investigations have covered topics as diverse as homelessness and domestic violence, through to international shadow wars, propaganda and PR spin, and the impact of global industrialised farming, and we have achieved significant impact through our work.
After ten years of development, the Bureau has built an enviable international reputation for excellence, and a pioneering approach to journalism.
Following significant growth we are now entering an exciting new phase of development and we are looking to broaden our Board of Directors as a result. We are seeking people to share our passion and enthusiasm for what we can contribute to society at this critical time.
The ideal candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong track record in their own field, and must have the capabilities to either broaden the skills of the board, increase its diversity or reduce its age profile.
The existing board has an abundance of journalistic talent. The new members should ideally have experience in new technologies or related fields, or have specific professional skills in finance or media law.
The board is responsible for overseeing the governance of the organisation, and advising the executive team on development and direction. The board meets 6 times a year and membership of the board is a voluntary position.
