About the role
Governor with a legal background
The Board of Governors at LEH work as a team. They are responsible for providing the overall governance, strategic direction and financial stability of the School.
Key responsibilities include working as part of the Compliance and Risk Committee in their role in:
- having oversight of external law and regulations to ensure full compliance by the School in relation (but not limited) to the following: ISI regulations, Health & Safety regulations, and data protection;
- the regular maintenance, amendment and monitoring of the School’s Risk Matrix and planned management of the identified risks;
- undertaking more detailed oversight time to time on specific areas to ensure that compliance and management of risks remain robust.
In, addition, the role may require the individual to ensure that any procedures involving the Governors are properly implemented from time to time (e.g. sitting on a panel in hearing formal complaints).
As a Governor, you will need strategic vision and to be willing to work collaboratively with the rest of the Board and relevant Committee members accordingly.
Most of all, you need commitment and enthusiasm to support the School in furthering its aims.
The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Four Board meetings and three Compliance and Risk Committee meetings and one Strategy Meeting (full day) per year.
We are keen for applications from individuals who would have the capacity to be involved more closely and sit on working parties for special projects from time to time.
You will also be encouraged to attend as many other School events as you are able.
