Loughton School currently has vacancies for a co-opted governor to join our Governing Board. Being a governor offers you the opportunity to make a real contribution to the life and work of our school and its community.
Governors play a key role in the strategic leadership of the academy and the raising of standards including the appointment of key staff, overseeing the budget and monitoring progress in the curriculum. Being a governor can be very rewarding and will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a friendly team and gain new skills. Don’t worry if you have no experience as full training and support is available from your colleagues on the Governing Board and from Milton Keynes Governor Services.
The most important attributes for being a governor are a genuine interest in our school and wanting to achieve the best for all the children at the school, dedication, time to attend meetings (approximately 6 per term) and visit the school; objectivity and integrity. The term of office is four years and we are particularly looking for people with chairing, business, financial, HR or legal backgrounds.
