We are looking for someone to join our Council of Management (COM i.e. Board of Governors) as a Charity Trustee and Director of Upton House School Limited. Specifically, following some recent retirements, we are seeking someone with a financial background to join our Finance and General Purposes Committee. The Committee and the COM each meet 3 times a year with meetings held in the evenings. The Committee is a key decision-making body with delegated authority from the board to oversee many aspects of the operation of the school including risk management and, in particular, financial management. The Committee recommends fee and salary increases to the board and reviews financial performance via the management and statutory accounts.
The Council of Management numbers 10-15 people and provides oversight and governance to the Senior Leadership Team, led by the Headmistress who has operational responsibility for running the school. There is an opportunity to get involved in other Committees, such as the Bursary or Development Committees for example, depending on availability and interest. Council members serve for up to 3 terms of 4 years in a voluntary capacity, although appropriate expenses will be reimbursed.
Upton House School is a non-selective independent preparatory school and nursery located in central Windsor for boys and girls aged 2-11, with 266 pupils currently on roll. We aim to offer the best possible education for each child through a lively and challenging curriculum, delivered in a creative and stimulating environment. Underpinned by a strong ethos and values, we strive to develop each Upton House pupil as a courteous, considerate and well-mannered member of the community. The school achieves considerable academic success with many scholarships to senior schools earned each year, and achieved an excellent rating in every category in its last inspection.
