Job Description

Incorporated in 2014 Pharm@Sea is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust providing outpatient pharmacy dispensing services, vaccination and homecare services, and a travel clinic. With patient benefit at the heart of our approach, we were established to provide a step change in the delivery of outpatient and inpatient services and improve the experience and quality of service. Our team of 18 expert staff are proud to offer a 9 minute turnaround time for prescriptions with 92% of all outpatient prescriptions dispensed and returned to the patient within 15 minutes; we have significantly reduced dispensing times and greatly improved patient experience.

We are also able to provide our NHS shareholder with a financial return and with a turnover of £22m we generate £1m in profit. Our ongoing vision is to ensure we continue to dispense quickly and efficiently, develop our service to deliver to the patients’ home and develop inpatient pharmacy; in short we want our patients’ experience to become better and better.  

On our journey to continuous improvement in our patients’ experience we are now looking to develop our expert board by introducing a new Non-Executive Director who will bring the expertise and focus to ensure the patient’s needs, journey and experience remains at the centre of our work.

We are looking for a strategic leader who is aligned to our commitment to ensure our operation innovates and evolves with the patient in mind at every step. You must be collaborative and self-assured, able to work effectively with a board comprised of clinicians and business people and wider NHS stakeholders. You will have had experience of a board level role and have had a professional strategic role which has focused on customer/patient experience. You will know how to understand customer/patient needs then translate these into strategic development and action.

This will be a highly rewarding role requiring a time commitment of a day a month and with meetings held in Brighton.
