Job Description

Mosaik is recruiting a volunteer to lead the financial and operations functions of the charity. Mosaik is looking for a committed and experienced volunteer, who would be willing to take on the role for a minimum of 12 months. Mosaik’s current small size means that the existing finance and operational functions are quite small and can be covered with 4-8 hours per week over the course of a year. There will be scope for innovative individuals to reshape the processes in place, plus mentorship opportunities with senior members of the Mosaik team.

This role would suit an experienced individual with a background in finance and/or operations, looking to grow their financial and operational management experience, or find a meaningful way to apply their experience to volunteering.


What will you be doing?


  • Managing incoming and outgoing payments, including maintenance of key documents

  • Managing donor financial reporting 

  • Managing financial control environments

  • Preparing monthly management accounts with bookkeeper, adn reporting to CEO and trustee board  

  • Performing due diligence on contractors, suppliers, partners and funders

  • Maximising income generation opportunities, including gift aid claims

Organisation development 


  • Managing contracts for team and volunteers 

  • Managing logistics of recruitment of volunteers and staff

  • Managing of wellbeing and benefits policy 

  • Annual report coordination

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years experience of the operational functions of small businesses or charities

  • Ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues at all levels

  • An understanding of the financial needs of a small business or charity/not-for-profit organisation, including fund accounting, tracking allocated funds in a budget sheet

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite and G-Suite, using spreadsheets to create financial reports.

  • Enthusiasm for and/or experience of working independently in a remote team

  • A passion and commitment for education and/or refugee causes.
