Job Description

About the role

Hereward College is looking to engage a special educational needs expert and a strategic finance professional to join the Corporation Board – their governing body. More than experience alone, they want to attract people who can support the College to drive the strategic developments, test the curriculum delivery strategy and support them to overcome the challenges faced by the sector. Bring rigour to the financial challenges and support to ensure the College realises it’s financial targets and provides the best possible outcomes for its students.

The Corporation Board is responsible for the strategy, finances, and organisational governance; ensuring high-quality teaching and learning and an exceptional student experience. The Corporation Board meets six times throughout the academic year to undertake its responsibilities and ensure the strategic aims are met, along with working with the executive team to ensure that they are providing its young people with the best possible experience to enhance their lives and prepare them for the future.

Who we're looking for

To support Hereward College’s ambition, they are looking to appoint two new Board Members (Governors). They are specifically looking for an experienced leader of SEN and a qualified finance professional. People who have a genuine interest and passion for their work and who can add value to the discussions which take place at the Board, through providing support and challenge to their leadership. You will be part of a Board which does this through discussion, debate and the appraisal of reports, plans and strategies.

Whilst having non-executive/board-level experience is desirable, what is more important is your ability to work as part of their Board and provide the scrutiny required in an organisation of this complexity from a place of experience and that you truly want to make a difference to the lives of their students.

Ideally, you should live or work locally to Coventry as your attendance will be required at the meetings of the Corporation Board which meets six times per year. All members are expected to join a board committee which can be discussed with you on appointment.
