The Society of Antiquaries of London

The Society of Antiquaries of London was founded in 1707 and received its Royal Charter in 1751. We are a registered charity (207237), the principal objectives of which are to foster public understanding of our material heritage, to support research and communicate the results, and to engage in the formulation of public policy on the care of our historic environment and cultural property.

We require two volunteers to join our Finance Committee. We are looking for individuals with knowledge and expertise in investments, finance, business management, charities and/or property management. The Finance Committee has responsibility for overseeing and advising Council on the state of the Society’s finances. Duties of the Committee include the review of quarterly management accounts, annual statutory accounts, annual budgets and investment policy and performance.

The Committee meets four times a year, once each financial quarter, at the Society’s premises in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London.

Applicants with an interest in our work with heritage and the historic environment are invited to contact the Society’s Governance Officer, Dr Rebecca Tomlin (rtomlin@sal.org.uk) with a cv and a covering letter explaining why they are interested in the role. Further information about the Society can be found at www.sal.org.uk. Informal enquiries to the same address are welcomed.
