Job Description

We are seeking new committee members who have a real passion and point of view about corporate governance and about the role of business in building fairer societies. We particularly want to hear from individuals in the following groups who are keen to share their opinions on governance issues: company lawyers; senior practising auditors; and journalists.

The ICAEW Corporate Governance Committee is responsible for:

-Inputting to, assisting in, advising or commenting on corporate governance developments (originating from bodies) in the UK, the EU and elsewhere.

-Preparing, on behalf of ICAEW, thought leadership or other publications or statements, for the guidance, assistance or information of members and the general public on the topics covered above,

-Providing a source of experience about corporate governance matters and assisting ICAEW’s representation activities within the UK, the EU and elsewhere; and

-Identifying matters to which, in the public interest, attention should be drawn.

Committee members are asked to contribute to the policy output of the committee. This includes responding to ICAEW’s responses to consultations, and ICAEW’s programme of thought leadership on corporate governance known as ‘connect and reflect.’

By joining the committee you will:

-Be a part of the current debate; keep a ‘finger on the pulse’. Ensure you are well informed and up to date. Gather intelligence and insight on the latest issues.

-Draw on a range of experience to broaden your own perspective. Understand the perspectives of others. Listen to subject matter experts over dinner.

-Enhance your CV. Speak with greater authority. Learn from peers. Enjoy the prestige of being associated with a leading body of professionals.

-Contribute to dialogue with standard setters/ regulators/legislators. Influence the development of standards. Have your voice heard. Ensure your firm or employer is represented in the debate.

There are 4 meetings per annum of 2 hours duration, followed by a dinner with an expert speaker. Committee members also have the opportunity to participate in other relevant events organised by ICAEW and by other organisations.

Applications close 31 January 2019.
