Edge Hill University is seeking to appoint independent members to its Board of Governors. The Board of Governors is a significant part of our University community, shaping the University’s strategy and culture. The Board has oversight of the educational character and mission of the University with specific responsibilities for institutional sustainability, financial probity and the effective use of resources. As the University is an exempt charity, governors are also trustees of the charity.

We are looking for candidates who have a high level of commitment to, and interest in, higher education and to the further development of Edge Hill University. We are particularly seeking applicants who have recent and relevant accounting or auditing experience, and those from underrepresented groups.

The role of Governor is not salaried though reasonable expenses may be paid. Meetings are normally held on a Monday, starting at 17:30, and governors can expect to attend in the region of nine meetings per year (with one full day strategy session in January).

  • a supporting statement that addresses the criteria in the person specification and outlines your motivation for applying. The statement should be no longer than 2 pages of A4 in 12pt font.
