UWE Bristol is an ambitious university. Together, our people are working hard to advance knowledge, inspire people and transform futures.
We are a high-performing university, with over 29,000 students, 250,000 alumni and 3,000 staff. UWE Bristol is one of the largest providers of Higher Education in the South West. We are globally connected and regionally embedded, with strong employer and partner connections. Students come to study with us from all over the UK, as well as from 140 different countries, making this a diverse and interesting place to study. We achieved 89% student satisfaction in the 2018 NSS; this excellent result places us in the top 10 of universities for student satisfaction in the UK and top of all University Alliance (UA) universities. UWE Bristol prides itself on the positive difference it makes to people’s lives and we are seeking individuals who share our passion for the benefits of higher education and who can help us connect to business so we can continue to thrive and succeed in an increasingly global market.
We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and strategic Independent Member and Audit Committee Chair Designate to join our experienced Board and help steer the University through a period of sustained investment and as we develop and work towards our Strategy 2030.
The Audit Committee’s role is to help the Board meet its responsibilities by providing independent oversight of the University’s systems of internal control, risk management and financial reporting, and through supervision of the quality, independence and effectiveness of both the internal and external auditors.
We would be particularly keen to hear from you if you have recent experience of a non-executive director role in a large organisation, recent and relevant financial experience, and an outstanding record of leadership and achievement in a mix of the following areas: accounting, strategic risk management and audit. Experience of the higher education sector is desirable.
If you think you have the experience, time and energy, and are interested in helping us deliver our ambitious strategy, please email the Deputy Clerk, Christine Gledhill firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to apply and for further information.
We are an inclusive and diverse university and we welcome people from all backgrounds.
