Hounslow Community FoodBox
The trustees of the Hounslow Community FoodBox (registered charity no: 1170666) are seeking to appoint an Independent Examiner to review the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 March 2019.
The FoodBox is a small charity providing emergency food to those in need in Hounslow run entirely by volunteers and supported by local supermarkets, businesses, schools, individuals and the Hounslow Council. The accounts are prepared on a cash basis (no accruals) with donations and grants of around £20,000. This is lower than the threshold requiring the appointment on an Independent Examiner but the trustees would welcome an independent review this year. Food donations are recorded but do not appear in the financial records.
The previous annual return and accounts for 2017/18 may be found on the Charity Commission website. The FoodBox’s own website is under construction and a holding page may be found at www.hounslowfoodbox.org.uk
The Independent Examiner doesn’t need to be a qualified accountant but would need to become familiar with the Charity Commission guidance for reviewing accounts (CC32). The Treasurer will prepare the accounts for review and provide all supporting documents and minutes. The total time commitment is estimated at up to 40 hours over a couple of months in August and September.
